Runs between Saltery Bay and Sarah Point by arrangement. Hikers can ask to join an existing trip and split the cost. Resupply drops are also available by arrangement.

Water taxi
Runs from Lund to the northern trailhead at Sarah Point. Sarah Point has no dock; the drop-off is on a rocky shore. Hikers sometimes arrange a shared trip to split the cost.

Ferries
The Earls Cove–Saltery Bay ferry reaches the southern trailhead; Comox–Powell River connects Vancouver Island. The app record lists crossings of about 50 and 85 minutes respectively. From Vancouver, the public-transport route also uses the Horseshoe Bay–Langdale ferry.

Local bus
Some Route 12 trips connect Saltery Bay with Powell River along the Stillwater corridor. The record checked 20 August 2026 lists a $2.25 ride and $4.50 day pass. Check current payment options before boarding.

Vancouver connection
Connects Langdale and Earls Cove as part of the public-transport route between Vancouver and Powell River. It can be paired with Vancouver bus 257 to Horseshoe Bay.

Flies between Coal Harbour in Vancouver and Powell River. Check the current schedule and baggage limits before building it into a trailhead connection.

Floatplane from Seattle
Flies from Lake Washington to Bliss Landing, about 3 km by forest road from Sarah Point. This is how the founder reached the northern end in July 2026. Fog can cancel floatplanes.

Full resupply
The trail reaches the Shingle Mill area near marker 56. Powell River is the main resupply stop. Confirm fuel-canister and bear-spray stock with a store.

On the trail at Powell River’s north edge near marker 56. Hikers have used it for a meal and an informal resupply handoff. Holding a bag is a favour, not a listed service; ask staff before relying on it.

qathet Parks and Wilderness Society built and maintains the trail and huts. Its site carries official hut information, trail notices and ways to support the work.

Emergency
Call 911 where cellular service is available. Without cellular service, use the SOS function on a satellite communicator. Give your coordinates and the reported accuracy. Report an overdue hiker at the agreed overdue time.
